Lodestar
An Independent School Journal of Ethical Inquiry
Lodestar is a scholarly journal written and edited by middle and high school students to explore how ethics shapes our choices, our communities, and our world.
This unique, student-run publication offers a space for original submissions that challenge, inspire, and illuminate. Through extensive research, articles, case studies, and creative work, Lodestar invites students to examine contemporary ethical questions and engage in discourse that drives understanding and change.
The name Lodestar represents a guiding light—a star that helps navigate a path forward. In the same way, ethics is the compass that guides our school, our work, and our publication. At Kent Place, ethics motivates us to:
-
Think critically about the world around us
-
Engage respectfully in challenging conversations
-
Act intentionally with integrity and empathy
Through initiatives like the Bioethics Project, our Ethics Bowl team, and now this journal, we empower and prepare our students to be effective leaders and compassionate citizens.
