Advisory
We provide activities and discussion plans for our middle and high school advisors to run during our advisory periods.
These resources integrate ethics with personal and interpersonal development goals of our advisory program. These include discussion starters, interactive skits, concept spectrums, and case studies that touch upon the topics of friendship, family, conflict resolution, honor code violations, integrity, self-advocacy, and leadership. In many cases we develop resources for advisories as requested to address student and teacher emergent needs.
ETHICS CHAT CARDS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLERS
Developed by Kent Place student Claire C. '26 in consultation with the Ethics Institute, each card within the deck presents a relevant real world middle-school dilemma with guiding questions on the back that are centered around values.
These chat cards are currently used in our 7th- and 8th-grade advisories at Kent Place, but they are also available for purchase. The deck includes a useful guide for teachers and families who would like to use these cards with children.
If you are interested in purchasing a deck, please email ethics@kentplace.org.
