Spring Issue of Lodestar Is Available; Next Year’s Leadership Is Named

The spring issue of Lodestar, the Kent Place ethics journal, is out! Editors-in-Chief Claire Cherill ’26, Liv Peters ’26, and Kara Asuncion Hoang ’27 selected a central theme — “What do we owe to each other?” — and staff then solicited submissions, selected articles, edited them, and formatted student work into an academic journal for the community.

This issue comprises articles from High School and Middle School students, as well as a case study with opposing responses; topics range from AI in healthcare, to survivor siblings, to politics in the music industry. Students also contributed custom art pieces to accompany the articles.

“This issue of Lodestar was by far one of the most challenging yet rewarding ones we’ve worked on as a team,” said Kara. “Between the tight deadlines and having a lot of real conversations about ethics, authenticity, and how AI is changing writing, the whole process pushed us in ways that helped us grow as Lodestar editors and ethical storytellers. Because the issue focused so much on what we owe each other as a community, those conversations became a huge part of the work itself. I’m so proud of everything our Lodestar team created, and I’m really excited that we finally get to share it with everyone.”

Said Allison Stitham, Interim Associate Director of the Ethics Institute: “It was a joy working with the Lodestar staff and seeing their hard work come together. Their dedication to this publication is admirable, and we’re looking forward to next fall’s issue.”

“Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this issue of Lodestar. Preparing and releasing two journals in one school year proved to be extremely challenging, but our Editors-in-Chief and staff managed to pull it off,” said Karen Rezach, Director of the Institute. “The amount of work that goes into each addition seems daunting; our students, though, were up to the challenge.”
