REBOOT’s “Tapping In” Podcast Recognized by NPR

“Tapping In,” a podcast produced by the students of the Ethics Institute's Rethinking Ethical Behavior Online for Oneself Together (REBOOT) team, received an honorable mention from National Public Radio (NPR) as part of its Student Podcast Challenge.

Launched in 2023, “Tapping In” aims to gain a deeper understanding of specific social media phenomena through discussions and interviews with experts, among them software developers who create beauty-enhancing filters, political strategists on the impact social media has on elections, and clothing brand designers on expedited trend cycles driven by social media.

The episode that caught the attention of NPR is “Tapping In: The Scope of Human Trafficking.” Tara Khurana ’26 and Tanseem Arampulikan ’25 interviewed Jennifer, a survivor of human trafficking who is also a spokesperson for Connect for Freedom

“We’re especially proud of this episode as it raises awareness of such a complex issue and shows how one can be impacted in a place where they least expect it: their phone,” says Tara.

“Working with Connect for Freedom was very special to highlight the intersection of human trafficking and social media, and I was very excited to hear about our NPR award,” says Tanseem.

“Being recognized by NPR speaks to the impact and exciting future of the podcast. Having worked on ‘Tapping In’ since my freshman year, it’s been fulfilling to watch it grow and see recognition of its potential,” Tara says.

The Ethics Institute's REBOOT program is a unique initiative led by students for students that empowers them to take charge of their digital lives.
