Next Year’s Middle School Ethics Bowl Team Selected

Next Year’s Middle School Ethics Bowl Team Selected

The Ethics Institute at Kent Place has named the students to participate in next year’s Middle School Ethics Bowl. Competition was steep for a place on the team — the 2026 champion of the New Jersey/New York Middle School Ethics Bowl.

All applicants received a case entitled “Teacher Strikes” and had to prepare a response to this question: “Is it ethical for teachers to go on strike?” Each made a presentation and then discussed it with the members of the MSEB Selection Committee: Dr. Rezach, Ms. Micchelli, Ms. Justice, Ms. Henry, and Ms. Stitham.

Congratulations to the newest members of our Middle School Ethics Bowl team: Taraa Arampulikan ’31, Aahana Banerjee ’32, Gracelyn Bhatia ’32, Nikki Dadgar ’31, Norah Lee ’31, Soumya Nandan ’32, Alice Seelaus ’32, Mira Shah ’31, Gia Subbiah ’31, Lilian Wang ’31, Ellie Wetzel ’32, and Bavathri Yoganathan ’31. They’ll be joining returning team members Bevin Buurma ’31 and Brie Peterfreund ’31.

“It was an almost impossible task to choose among so many talented applicants,” says Dr. Rezach. “I give credit to our Middle School teachers; they’ve developed strong ethical-thinking skills among our students.”

Said Middle School Ethics Bowl Coach Marie Micchelli: “Between the courage of these students and their ability to think on their feet, I’m very impressed. I’m looking forward to another great year with the newest team members.”

The team’s work is integrated into the school day, giving students the opportunity to learn about ethics and practice their skills before representing Kent Place School in the NJ/NY Ethics Bowl. Next year’s event will take place on Saturday, February 27, on campus.

“Congratulations to next year’s team,” said Dr. Rezach. “I know they’ll continue KPS’s winning ways.”
