Kent Place Wins NJ-NY Middle School Ethics Bowl

Congratulations to the Kent Place Middle School Ethics Bowl teams! In the 2026 NJ-NY Middle School Ethics Bowl, the two teams competed against each other in the final round and placed first and second in the event.

This was the seventh-annual NJ-NY Middle School Ethics Bowl. Twenty-four teams — a record number — from independent, public, and charter schools in New Jersey and New York came to the KPS campus to participate in three competitive rounds. After the scores were tallied, all the teams went to watch the final round in the Great Room.

The students competed on cases written by the national Case Writing Committee. Among the topics were the ethics of an orchestra requiring auditions, relationships with AI chatbots, the responsibilities of young influencers over their audiences, and genetic testing.

The Packer Collegiate Institute, Team 2, won the Margot Meyer Award for Excellence in Ethics, which goes to the team that scores the most judges’ points in Rounds 1–3, during Open Dialogue and Final Question.

“What a fantastic day!” said Karen Rezach, Director of the Ethics Institute at Kent Place. “The enthusiasm and the quality of the ethical conversations that were taking place among the 24 teams were simply incredible. This was one of the best ethics bowl competitions I’ve had the privilege to witness. Congratulations to all of the teams and schools and their coaches.”
