Get to Know REBOOT
REBOOT is a unique student-led initiative that inspires our girls to change their behavior in the online realm. Its mission is to educate and empower our community to enjoy the benefits of technology by way of an ethical lens and increase awareness of the good and the questionable of the digital world. With our programs and events, we want to positively impact on online experiences for all ages.
The five REBOOT committees create resources and plan events to educate our community throughout the year. The Engagement Committee takes the lead in student participation with fun activities during school hours. The Case Studies Committee presents ethical dilemmas you might run into using technology, and the Mentoring Committee is able to present them as conversation starters in their various assemblies and workshops. To spread our mission outside the KPS community, the Outreach Committee connects with groups from other schools, and REBOOT’s podcast, “Tapping In,” interviews experts to better understand social media.
As REBOOT prepares to launch for the year, many important dates are already on the schedule. Season 2 of “Tapping In” will start on October 30 and the kick-off assembly for the Upper School will take place on November 9. Also next month, REBOOT plans to host a summit with other independent schools to exchange ideas and discuss the effects of social media on young students and teens.
REBOOT is gearing up for another exciting year — it’s time to make a difference in the digital realm!
